Mother said, “Get back in here, son

That woman, she won’t quit until she's done.”

Mother put her flowers in the vase

She sat back down, rubbed the cool cream on her face


Daddy said, “Get back on out there, kid
“That woman, she’s as light as a Katydid

“There’s nothing like a woman…,” Daddy said

If he finished the thought, he kept it in his head


Katy, Katy, Katy…


Brother, he slipped on out the back

We heard his old jeep sputter and crack

We never heard from brother again

And Katy done disappeared on the wind
